Why I Support electHER Now

“Studies have shown that diverse teams produce better decisions. Much better decisions, it turns out. The data state that the quality of decisions by diverse teams is increased by 30%. And diversity does not stop at gender or skin colour, it also includes cognitive diversity and experience, among other qualities.

electHER Now is such an important organization as it takes leadership with the biggest opportunity for diversity: gender. Women represent 52% of the world’s population and they make 85% of the household buying decisions. They are our mothers, wives, partners, daughters, nieces, colleagues, friends, grandmothers, neighbours, acquaintances.

And yet women represent a mere 27% of the elected officers at the municipal table in Ontario - a mere 19% of the mayors across our great land. Canada stands an embarrassing # 52 in the world with its elected representation of women.

We can do so much better. And I know that electHER Now will make a real difference with this message in the 2022 municipal election.”
