THE JOURNEY TO GENDER BALANCE CONTINUES 

In 1918, women won the right to vote in Ontario. Just two years later, Constance Hamilton was elected as the first woman to a municipal council (Toronto).

Over 100 years later, more women have been elected in both Grey Bruce and across Ontario, but gender balance has not been achieved. And so, the work of electHER Now continues on.

As of October 24, 2022, only 29% of municipal positions in Grey Bruce are held by women, where 51% of the population are women*.
