We are a group of non-elected community volunteers, committed to inspire and support women to local leadership at the municipal level. Aside from election period, we work with an Advisory Council of elected officials in Grey Bruce.

OUR GOAL

To increase the number of women elected to municipal office to more fully represent the population it serves.

WHY? Women bring a different perspective to the political table based on their life experience.  An elected municipal council who better reflects the diverse composition of people in the region will help bring this perspective to important decisions made at that table.

Our Three Strategies

  1. Encourage women to run for office and help them win

  2. Support newly-elected officials so they thrive in their first term of office

  3. Inspire elected women to seek to serve multiple terms.

Open & Safe Space: We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and open environment where people can share experiences and learn together. Our programs and activities are designed to be accessible, with no financial or gender-based barriers. We respect and protect the privacy of participants and guests, and we model civility and respect in all interactions and communications.

Transparency & Engagement: As a non-partisan organization, eletcHER Now is not affiliated with or financially supported by any political party or lobby group. We practice transparency by publicly sharing our goals, activities, and financial information on an annual basis. We openly disclose any personal associations or affiliations that may influence decision-making.

Integrity & Professionalism: As an organization and as individuals, we act with integrity, professionalism, and accountability. We respect the fairness of the electoral process and do not endorse individual candidates, provide financial support to candidates, or take positions on decisions made by individual councils. Our work is guided by ethical conduct, responsible governance, and respect for differing perspectives.

Evolution & Collaboration: We continue to learn and adapt in order to support more equitable and diverse participation at municipal tables in the Grey Bruce region and beyond. We seek opportunities to collaborate with individuals and organizations where there is shared purpose, while remaining independent in our governance and non-partisan in our approach.

At this time, we are focused on the municipalities in the Grey Bruce regions of Ontario.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE that electHER Now virtual and in-person events are hosted on Saugeen Treaty No. 45½ land, the Traditional Territory of the Anishinabek Nation—the People of the Three Fires: Ojibway, Odawa, and Pottawatomie.
